Easter celebrations in Bendigo - a tea lovers guide

Easter in Bendigo is a time of vibrant festivities, spanning four wonderful days, bringing our community together for many unique celebrations and traditions.

One of the most iconic festivities during the Bendigo Easter Festival is the “Awakening of the Dragon” ceremony. A traditional celebration of lion and dragon dance presented by the Bendigo Chinese Association. ‘Dai Gum Loong’, was welcomed in 2019 and at over 125 metres long, he is the world’s longest parading Imperial dragon. The traditional Chinese ceremony, that concludes with the lighting of 100,000 firecrackers, is used to wake up Dai Gum Loong from his year long slumber in preparation for his performance in the Gala Parade on Easter Sunday.

At Tea Associates, we are proud to honour this special tradition with our signature breakfast tea blend, “Bendigo Awakenings.”

This beautiful blend of black tea leaves from China, India, and Sri Lanka pays homage to our wonderful Bendigo history and the vibrancy of our Easter Festival. Our Bendigo Awakenings blend is our take on an English/Irish breakfast tea, it has a beautifully smooth flavour profile and is a popular ‘pick me up’ tea for any time of the day.

In addition to Bendigo Awakenings, we have hand-picked another three tea blends that are a perfect fit for your Easter celebrations.

Sassy, our chai tea, is a delightful blend of premium black tea and robust spices and herbs, including sarsaparilla, cinnamon, liquorice, and star anise. What makes Sassy special is her versatility. You can enjoy Sassy as a traditional black tea by simply adding hot water, or for a creamier texture, add a splash of milk. For a richer experience, steep Sassy directly in your milk of choice, and you can even sweeten it with honey to taste. While Sassy is not inherently sweet on its own, her spicy notes beautifully complement sweet treats like chocolates, Easter eggs, and Turkish delight. The combination of Sassy tea and sweet treats creates a delightful contrast that is both satisfying and comforting, the perfect pair for your Easter break!

Minted in Bendigoour herbal peppermint tea blend, offers a refreshing and invigorating experience, perfect for the lively Easter festivities. This blend features a combination of organic peppermint, spearmint, and golden calendula flowers with leaves, creating a delightful and aromatic brew. Peppermint and spearmint are renowned for their soothing properties, that may aid in digestion whilst providing a refreshing burst of flavour. The addition of golden calendula flowers adds a touch of sweetness and a beautiful golden hue to this tea. Whether you’re looking to cleanse your palate or simply seeking a revitalising beverage, Minted in Bendigo will refresh and rejuvenate your senses during your Easter celebrations.

Bedtime Bouquet is our soothing blend carefully crafted to help you unwind and prepare for a restful night’s sleep. This calming blend features a bouquet of botanicals, with each ingredient selected for its unique properties that promote relaxation and reduce stress. Lemon balm and chamomile are known for their calming effects, while passionflower and valerian may help to alleviate anxiety and improve sleep quality. The addition of lavender and rose petals adds a delicate floral aroma, creating a soothing and comforting experience. Whether you’re winding down after a big day of Easter celebrations or simply in need of a peaceful moment, “Bedtime Bouquet” is the perfect blend to help you relax and rejuvenate over the festive Easter period.

This Easter, let us all enjoy the magic and fun that Bendigo’s Easter festival has to offer. Whether you have family coming to stay or even if you are heading away for Easter, remember to share a tea with loved ones or take a quiet moment to yourself with a cuppa. It means so much to us that our teas can be part of your Easter traditions too!
